U of A Economic Graduate Students give you their best thesis "elevator pitch". This is an in-person event. Five PhD students from the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta will give 7-minute talks about their dissertation research. The event will be facilitated by Rick Szostak, Chair of the Department and Past President of ESNA. There will be an opportunity for questions and informal conversations after the presentations.

Presentations:

Five PhD students from the Department of Economics at the University of Alberta will give 7-minute talks about their dissertation research. Graduate Students:

    • Xuan Cui is a 4th year PhD student from Xi’an, Shaanxi Province in China.  She is presenting her work on ”The Effect of Family Size on Mothers’ Mental Health in China”.
    • Yu Su is a 4th year PhD student from Jining, Shandong province in China.  He is presenting his work on “Short-term rentals and the housing market”.
    • Xiao Lu is a 3rd year PhD student from Beijing, China.  He is presenting his work on “Canadian Economic Outlook and US Financial Conditions”.
    • Kyle Phong is a 4th year PhD student from Calgary.  He is presenting his work on “Labour Market Concentration and Wages in Canada”.
    • Yuhan Wang is a 5th year PhD student from Dalian, Liaoning province in China.  She is presenting her work on “The effect of unemployment on voter turnout: Evidence from Canadian federal elections”.
